We were delighted to be part of the AMRC's Impact and Evaluation Masterclass held in London yesterday. It was great to hear how the Researchfish impact assessment platform is being used by medical research charities to capture and report research value.
Talks ranged from 'An overview of the current state of impact measurement' by MRC to 'Why is it so important to look at impact and how can we do it? by Cancer Research UK to 'How we assess and promote impact' by Arthritis Research UK and 'Retrospective analysis of impact and reporting' by the MS Society.
In addition to these talks there was a four-way lively panel discussion 'Strengthening impact delivery: training, culture change and capacity building' between representatives from Coventry University, University of Kent, Policy Institute at King’s College London, and Policy Institute at King’s College London/NIHR Central Commissioning Facility.
Sean Newell, Researchfish CEO, discussing Research Impact Assessment
A great educational event that presented superb networking opportunities for all - thank you AMRC for hosting and organising. The take home message of the day was with research impact captured, measured and reported, better funding decisions can be made - benefiting the people we are trying to help - the whole point of why we do what we do!
