Sean Newell, Chief Executive Officer

Sean has worked in the software industry for over 25 years, having started out as an engineering graduate from Cambridge University. Originally a software developer, Sean made the transition to operational management and has directed companies and teams, both small and large around the world. Prior to Researchfish, Sean managed GE’s European technical service delivery unit.

Gavin Reddick, Chief Analyst

Gavin was a Senior Information Analyst for the Medical Research Council, specialising in statistical analysis and information flows and working primarily with output data collected by Researchfish. Gavin’s role as Chief Analyst at Researchfish ensures the enrichment of reported data, improves the sophistication of its analysis, and facilitates broader and deeper use of this data by funders.

Dr Beverley Sherbon, Impact & Evaluation Adviser

With over 9 years of experience, Dr Beverley Sherbon was formerly Evaluation Programme Manager for the Medical Research Council and responsible for managing their evaluation portfolio. Beverley has a wealth of knowledge in reporting to government on research progress, productivity and impact and also funding and commissioning research into impact methodology. 

Giles Mitton, Chief Technical Officer

As Chief Technical Officer, Giles is responsible for the software development. As the architect of the e-Val system for MRC, his in-depth knowledge of the SaaS architecture behind Researchfish is essential for the ongoing growth and development. Originally a Computer Science graduate from Cambridge University, Giles is responsible for ensuring that the technology maintains its innovative edge as Researchfish expands its reach within the industry.

Dr Vera Hazelwood, Chief Strategy Officer

Vera works closely with organisations to enable strategic decision-making driven by data gathered using the Researchfish Impact & Evaluation Hub. With a background in mathematical modelling and data analysis, Vera joined the Research Fish team from a leading mathematical consultancy company, where she led business development in a strategic area of research management and directed research networks on the interface of funders, academia and industry.
